SBA_GND

Wed Oct 13, 2010 3:40 pm

Hey Guys,
So far I have controlled KSBA_GND for 12 hours and 18 minutes this month. Unfortunately little traffic seems to make it over to Santa Barbara. I think ZLA is missing an event. SOCAL HOPS! If we staffed all of LAX and outlying airports it would be quite an event. It would also give a chance to the S1 rated controllers. I am not sure who to talk to or what to do to try and get an event rolling, but I decided to start here. Ideas and suggestions are more than welcome.

Colin,

I'd probably the one to talk to...the events coordinator and all.

We have events like this throughout the year. The one that sounds like what you're describing is our Don Fiveash Memorial Fly-in where we staff up many ZLA class delta airports. Additionally, our Limelight events that happen about once a month feature class C and D airports and we usually staff up the surrounding fields.

one thing to keep in mind too that the more often you man a position the more likely you are to see more traffic

I'm definitely looking forward to controlling SBA_GND.. just need my S1 Sweatbox Session. Hopefully by consistently having a controller or two at SBA, the workload will increase.
