Depart: KCRQ
Arrive: KSBA
Time: 1300 local (2000 zulu)
Distance: About 130 miles. Plan 1.5-2 hours, give or take a little.
Route:
Follow the shoreline northbound to intercept SMO 308R. Transition LAX Class Bravo via the Mini Route Northbound. Once over SMO, left to continue following shoreline to intercept VTU 310R. VTU 290R outbound to make visual approach to runway 25 (weather permitting).
Altitude:
Low and slow to enjoy the scenery. Must transition the Bravo at 2,500 feet!.
Notes:
After departing KCRQ, must remain clear of the restrictions around Camp Pendleton. Will most likely fly approximatley 5 miles west of the shoreline, over the water to ensure no accidental penetration of the airspace restriction.
Will transition John Wayne Class Charlie airspace, unless below 1,500 feet (lowest point of Class Charlie airspace over the water). Refer to posts by Wayne Conrad re: Class Charlie transitions if you are unfamiliar with how to execute this (http://www.laartcc.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12867" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).
Will transition the Los Angeles Class Bravo airspace via the northbound Mini Route. This requires ATC clearance (assuming ATC is available). Refer to posts by Wayne Conrad re: Class Bravo transitions (http://www.laartcc.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12867" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;).
Must remain below 5,000 after SMO to remain below the Los Angeles Class Bravo airspace.
Must remain clear of the airspace restrictions around Point Mugu. Intercepting the VTU VOR on the above redials will ensure this.
If I missed something or you feel something is incorrect, please feel free to post a correction or amendment.
Above all else, HAVE FUN WITH THIS! This is intended to be a nice, slow, leisurely flight along the coastline.
Hope to see you all there!
