The Flight Planning Challenge Results

Hey guys, sorry about the delays (computer issues), but I have the final results for the challenge.

5 people started, 4 finished, and I was able to compile results for 3 of the 4.

So here are the results.

<120 knot category.

2 Entries, of which data could be gathered from 1

So the winner in both categories is Wayne in N129P arriving on 9/3 at 0006Z and spending 491.88 dollars.

120-180 knot category

3 Entries in this category, of which 2 finished.

Winning this category in both areas was SX in N123SX arriving on 9/2 at 1536Z and spending 375.26 dollars.

Thanks to everyone who participated, hopefully you all had fun with it.

Ive included the 3 tracks of those who finished with complete data, and the route I took when doing this IRL.

The colors work out as follows:

Blue: Myself in N31ER
Yellow: Wayne in N129P
Red: Shawn in N123SX
Green: Ed in N1EDT

Ryan, I got your data but I didnt get any of the timing/fuel data for the second leg.

Peter, thanks for the bang-up job on this contest. You made me file enough paperwork to almost feel like a real pilot, tell you what!

Peter,

I didn't get to fly the final leg as RW (closing on my house and moving) got in the way.

Nonetheless, even only finishing two-thirds of it was a wicked good time. I discovered that when you fly your plan in real-time, ethereal flight times and distances in a spreadsheet or scribbled on a pad take on a whole new meaning. It was an excellent challenge of flight planning ability and flying skill.
