ZOTSOT Checklist- SCT_APP (Socal Approach Combined) OTS

Mon Jul 22, 2019 8:52 pm

This is the ZOTSOT checklist suggestions for SCT_APP (SOCAL Combined) sessions. These sessions and the resulting OTS are some of the most difficult on the network. For pilots though, there are MANY possibilities here. The airspace controlled goes north to KVNY, south to KSAN and east to KPSP. If you like to practice IFR some of the below can be combined into one flight. Always ask an instructor/mentor what they would like to see first, because they know what the student needs.

If you have anything to add, feel free to email the Training Administrator at [email protected] and we can get it updated.

--------------------
Pop up IFR after departing Catalina (KAVX) under 3000 to KSMO

VOR-A Approach into SMO – Go missed and do again

LDA-C approach into KVNY

LOC-D approach into Gillespie Field (KSEE) from the north

VOR 26R approach into Chino (KCNO)

Do an IFR flight from KCNO to KPSP (can get IFR on the ground or in the air) with a routing of PDZ V16 PSP. You will need to file at least 13000 enroute

VOR/DME-A approach into KRNM from the West in a fast a/c (speed control is important here)

Depart KLGB and ask for the Coastal Route through the LA Bravo Airspace – VFR flight

IFR flight from KLGB to KSNA – should be quick – and ask for the ILS 20R approach – Expect a clearance for the approach over SLI

---Jet Traffic---

Fly the ZIGGY Approach into KONT – Easiest from KLAS

Fly the KAYOH Approach into KSNA – Easiest from KLAS
