Re: How to fly the SNA ILS 20R, by AOPA

Interesting that they even suggest using the alternate MAP hold at SLI. I say that because the MAP tells them to hold over SLI at 3000. The VOR 30 at KLGB has a crossing restriction of at/below 17500 and at/above 1500, and that's for a hold to get down to the MSA for the approach. You could have one...

Re: 1913 Changes

Here's a sneak peek at the new L30 procedures if you're curious or bored. It's got lots of pretty pictures. https://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/community_involvement/las/media/LAS_Boards_FINAL.pdf Looks good and straight forward. Basically no change to the departure side of config #3, move arrivals sli...

Re: ZOTSOT Checklist- LAS_APP (L30)

I'll email these in as well. Right Traffic (read: Stratosphere) Visual approach into the 19s while in Config 4. Parachute operations at either KBVU or 0L7. Climb up to 13000 into the jump zones and then back down. Rocks arrival into KVGT. Rocks Departure out of KVGT. CRESO4 into KLAS under any confi...

Re: 1907 Changes

GRNPA has been dead for several months, interestingly it ended north of airport (at LEMNZ which still exists) rather than at PRINO Reason for this is that it was created as the only RNAV arrival into the 19s, so if coming from the northeast and you were RNAV-equipped, you had to be vectored off the...

Re: frequency LAX

Since most aircraft coming from Europe end up coming from what ostensibly is "east," they can get put on either 24R or 25L depending on how SOCAL needs to space them out. If you're looking for the Asia push, those generally end up on the North Complex (24R), and there's great spotting from the park...

Re: ZAB LOA Updated

Hi all, The round of LOA updates continues with ZAB. Not much has changed, apart from the RDEYE getting deleted and getting replaced by the BASET for over-ocean operations. The main change for our controllers comes in the form of an SDL routing adjustment for aircraft departing the SAN area. Instea...

Re: Cycle 1802 Changes

NIMBY? That should have been drawn up for SMO. ;) But what the holy hell is that crap routing right off the departure of that STAYY departure out of SNA? Talk about wanting to give someone a case of using both barf bags in their seat! Damn... it says a lot when now 4 procedures that have been around...

Re: Discussing Arrivals and Approaches

We should set up some new sweatbox problems to demonstrate. I was going to mention something similar. When I was back in the S1-S3 days, the ATM at the time decided to gather all of the S1s- S3s together and actually do a live training with all of us at LAX Tower, with live traffic on the network. ...

Re: What's to Come in 1713

Yeah.. about that SADDE.. :( It's definitely because they are apparently closing KSMO by 2020 or 2025, I can't remember.. GH and FH will be shedding a tear for that, and justifiably so. That corresponds to the shortening of the runway to 3500, plus with that closure they are supposedly decommissioni...

Re: Vegas Members

Jill and I are okay as well. We normally don't go near Las Vegas Boulevard for much, except to eat on occasion, or for me to go planespotting and listening to ATC., but we're okay. Stayed home all weekend. Some friends of a friend were at a wedding that evening, and were staying at the Luxor, and th...

Re: New L30 SOP

Great work on this, DE! The L30 SOP update was a long time coming, as the last time we had an update to it, we had just switched from 6 runway configurations to 4. The only question I have is regarding the charts. The SOP has the following: When utilizing Visual Approaches to Runways 19L/R and 7R, t...

Last night's KLAX Ground feed at LiveATC should be a really good listen for this airline equivalent of Musical Chairs.

Re: Anyone Vegas Based?

I'm still there part time. Still have an apartment-turned-storage unit out in Summerlin, and with the in-laws living in Kingman, we make the obligatory Familial visit at least every 3 - 4 months. Next time we're down there, I'll post here.
