Re How to fly the SNA ILS 20R, by AOPA

Interesting that they even suggest using the alternate MAP hold at SLI. I say that because the MAP tells them to hold over SLI at 3000. The VOR 30 at KLGB has a crossing restriction of at/below 17500 and at/above 1500, and that's for a hold to get down to the MSA for the approach. You could have on...

Re: VNY Tower

I fly out of VNY IRL so it's near and dear to me. Solomoriah, all towers are open if the overlying controller (SOCAL, Center) is open. VNY and BUR themselves don't see a ton of controllers because they don't see a ton of traffic. A coordinated effort by some of the tower controllers to open the Delt...

Re: ZLA-ZDV LOA Updates for DEN Metroplex

I pointed out to NC earlier that we still need to adjust some of the LOA for new routes as they become known to us. Expect a few updates and changes as the metroplex settles in.

Re: 1911 Changes

For what it's worth, P --> J makes sense if you look at the basic order of taxiways. South to North A to E, then south east to west, F, G, H (since it's newer) no I since it looks like 1, then J . Expensive change to align letters. I imagine something to do with the midfield concourse and the eventu...

Re: Using the Audio for VATSIM Standalone Client

Just a note: when you're taking over for a position, the default will be for the client to use your visibility center as transceivers. You MUST add the default callsign of the position you're assuming, and then TX/RX (and potentially XC) on THAT callsign, otherwise pilots may have trouble hearing you.

Using the Audio for VATSIM Standalone Client

ZLA pals, I've written a quick tutorial for you to get familiar with using the new standalone AFV client with VRC, vSTARS, and vERAM. Eventually the new codec will be integrated fully into those clients, but in the meantime, you can follow the steps below to get started. The full AFV Manual can be f...

Audio for VATSIM

All, the new codec is around the corner. For users of VRC, vSTARS, and vERAM, you will have to download the “standalone AFV” client until those programs integrate some code. You can learn about the new codec by following the link below. Training staff will be available shortly before launch to assis...
