Re: Sector Oceanic

OK odd that the charts do not depict this. Something in the real world ZLA may have changed recently with regard to how they transfer to San Francisco Radio, or with regards to actual radar coverage there. Our current SOP is based on information from last year's real SOP, and is consistent with how...

Re: Sector Oceanic

We own SFC to Unlimited about as west as DINTY, then FL240 to Unlimited west of DINTY for a few hundred miles.

Re: Question about Approaching KLAX

David, if you are ever unsure about an instruction feel free to ask the controller. They would much rather you clear up confusion in the moment than doing something they weren't expecting. From cruise, you'll often hear the instruction "Descend at pilot's discretion to Altitude," meaning you can des...

Re: vERAM Users - ZLA Altimeter Stations

This does not alleviate you from giving the destination (or departure) airport's local altimeter to aircraft you are providing terminal services to.

Rory, that banner says March 27th. Did this event already happen or is it happening on April 27th?

We're also aware positions haven't been assigned for next week's event. They will be out in the next day or two.

Re: Clearance Delivery Exam VFR Clearance

Hello David. While the CD exam is open book, it is not open answer. You can find all of the relevant information about which airport we're quizzing on by reading the exam directions. You should also review this article in the STM: https://laartcc.org/stm/what-the-instructors-grading-your-exam-are-lo...

Re: VFR operations around LAX

Thank you! I see a number of "CTC SOCAL APP WITHIN 20NM ON ..." boxes around the area on the Los Angeles TAC. Is that 20nm from the nearest Class C airspace to the box or 20nm from the vicinity of the box itself? As I recall, when you got close to any controlled airspace with no hand-off, the contr...

Re: VFR operations around LAX

Hey there Grisk, happy to help. Los Angeles is great for VFR. 1) In "the real world," closed class D airspace becomes class E* and you can transit it as if it were an uncontrolled airport. For VATSIM purposes, I think what you're doing is fine. I would stay out of B airspace unless you were on a VFR...

This is a noticeable change if you haven't been taking it into account yet. The 12/250 crossing restriction occurs here.

Re: Clearance Delivery Exam

David, you can do it in stages but the exams expire after a few weeks if they are not complete. You can contact the training department to have the exam reassigned if that happens.

Burbank (KBUR) Scenery

Friends, ran across this thread on FSDeveloper. Pretty good quality KBUR scenery that is still being worked on. A hefty download, though, as they've included quite a bit of photoreal ground textures.
