Re: List of ATC facility closures released

The only reason i can think to save SBD is because A, Boeing does alot of testing there, and B come the end of the summer, SBD starts getting real busy with fire season. Thinking about it more, it may also have to do with reduced sectorization at SCT and a fear of multiple IFR's into SBD causing a s...

Re: LiveATC offers a new plethora of LAX feeds

LAX Ground is a real SMH fest. I was told by one of my instructors at Mt. SAC to listen to LAX GND next time i went spotting about a year ago. Alot of real life Pilot repsonse, controller SMH goes on there.

Re: Is reading back squawkcode no longer required?

Apparently that was a big enough problem at LAX that they now have a message in the ATIS to "include your call sign in all transmissions"
i wish someone would put up a ground feed for LAX, it is a really 'hoot'.

Re: New Radar Client, vSTARS

MVA's are supposed to be set as a different map from the Video maps. That is so you can adjust the MVA's on the side. The best way is to use the Real World MVA's which you used to be able to get from the FAA's website. The real tricky thing with vSTAR's is the MSAW. It can be annoying having aircraf...

Re: New Radar Client, vSTARS

Looks pretty cool. Is SCT still using ARTS or is it moving to STARS?
I'm pretty sure I heard SCT is going STARS, not sure when. L30 is already STARS from what I understand.
L30 is definately STARS. Was just there 2 weeks ago :P

Re: Took a trip to KLAS and L30/ LAS ATCT.

Jealous  . Are you a CTI student?
Yep at lovely Mt. SAC. Benton, let me correct you. Radar is where the real fun is. Tower is cool, but real tin pushers work in those dark rooms, although i wouldn't consider Enroute to really be all that dark. ZLA sure wasn't when i visited in october.

Re: East ops today...

Empire has been ruinning east since yesterday morning and still is in real life. Normally you only see this east ops stuff for 12 hour periods, but this is just a little bizarre. And because of that the GA traffic into and out of KONT IRL has been alot high than normal. To quote Socal yesterday " NX...
